Position: Friday Nature Educator
Location: Twin Lakes Park, Cedar Park, TX
Hours: Fridays, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Start Date: September 6th
Compensation: $150-$200 per day (27 Fridays), based on experience

About Us:
Nature's Schoolhouse is a unique, secular microschool operating out of a beautiful outdoor setting in Cedar Park, Texas. We celebrate cultural diversity, natural exploration, and hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity and a love for learning. Our Fridays in the Park program is a beloved weekly tradition where students of mixed ages spend the day learning, exploring, and playing in nature. Each Friday, we gather at Twin Lakes Park to engage in thematic, nature-based activities that connect with our broader curriculum.

 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic educator to join our team as a Friday Educator for our Fridays in the Park program. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children in an outdoor setting, has a strong appreciation for nature, and is excited about creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a mixed-age group of students (PK-5th grade) in outdoor activities that are educational, fun, and aligned with our school's values and curriculum.

  • Facilitate nature-based lessons and activities.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all students feel respected and valued.

  • Collaborate with our lead teachers.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child’s day and experiences.

  • Assist with supervision during outdoor play, hikes, and lunch breaks.

  • Be prepared for variable weather conditions and ensure that all activities are safe and appropriate for the day’s circumstances.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, or similar setting, preferably in an outdoor environment.

  • Strong understanding of child development and ability to adapt activities to suit different age groups.

  • Passion for nature, outdoor education, and experiential learning.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with both children and parents.

  • Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability and desire to work outside in all types of weather.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
